The Story Behind the Name

My friend asked me about the story behind “Papers Delicious” and what it means. Therefore, I’m going to take a quick moment to share how my blog got its name. Seven years ago my son and I were living on our own in a tiny apartment in Iowa. I was on the lonelier side of things and decided to give online dating a try. I signed up for OKCupid. Upon signing up I had to create a user account and name (obviously) and I had NO idea what to choose. I am not a clever girl. I spent probably close to 20 minutes staring at my computer thinking “what the fuck.”

Then I looked down at my handsome little guy, Jack, and do you know what he was doing? He was giving the nibbles to my paper. Facepalm. You heard me right. He was just sitting there nibbling away on my schoolwork. I laughed and while taking it away I said, “Mmm papers delicious.” *Lightbulb.* And it was in that moment that “PapersDelicious” was born.

It has since been my username for literally everything. Not only is it kind of quippy, in my humble opinion,

but it holds such a great memory of my son and failed mommy moment. So now you know the story. No regrets!
